It was inevitable. I should’ve gotten gas YESTERDAY because TODAY ALL of the area gas stations have adopted the policy that if you pay in CASH, that it’ll be CHEAPER than credit card. At my regular gas station, the difference was 8 cents.
Excuse me? What in the name of all that’s brown and mushy is that all about?
So, while I rummaged through my purse for enough money to get me off of empty (because I refuse to give the gas station 8 MORE cents a gallon), I pulled out my birthday money and used THAT (I’ll hit the ATM later to get it back–FOR FREE). The nerve of these people. I don’t know what irritated me more–the fact that they are now charging for credit card usage (which they haven’t done in YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS) -or- the fact that I heard this morning on the news that oil barrel prices have held steady at $130/barrel.
If it’s STEADY shouldn’t that mean that gas stations can’t raise prices?
Gas this morning cost: $3.77/gal CASH and $3.85 CREDIT for regular.
My beef is STILL my beef– someone better cap these folks soon or we’re going to be resorting to horse-drawn carriages for our modes of transportation… and none too soon. From what I understand, hay and feed are a shitload cheaper (correct me if I’m wrong, Yankeechick) that feeding my car. (I can’t imagine what my husband’s paying for his work van. OUCH!)

Ok, I’m going to do something that I rarely (if ever) do. Last night, after posting pics of my cake and Stewie the Foil Swan Hat, I parked myself in front of my stats (because I noticed while writing that my stats numbers were rising at an incredible rate) for a while. This is what I noticed: a LOT of people stopped by, most of whom I didn’t know. As a matter of fact, yesterday superceded my previous visitors’ tally by 100 people (131)… all in a matter of an HOUR. I am honored and giddy to know that people are that interested in my boring existence, but still do not know who you are. And, the most interesting thing is that there are people reading who are from new areas: China, Phillippines, Poland, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Sweden, Malaysia, Indiana, a bunch from Florida, Michigan, some from Mississippi, and a couple from the Dakotas region. Welcome. I hope you do come back… In the meantime, drop me a little note to say hi (in my comments section at the bottom of this post) and let me know how you found me. If you’re shy… like some tend to be… email me (herstory07@gmail.com).
–Thanks,

I’ll say this ONE MORE TIME… I think that Hillary Clinton needs to knock it off with the “boo hoo, everyone hates me because I’m a girl” garbage. That only works when a male police officer pulls you over for speeding, and you reach into your glove box to get your insurance and registration causing a pile of tampons to spill out… embarassing the police officer, who in turn lets you off with a warning.
Hillary– Chivalry is dead. D-E-A-D. The political realm is comprised of the old boys club. If you can’t hike up your panties and get into the mix like the rest of ‘em, then quit. I’m tired of listening to you whine. YOU WANT TO BE PRESIDENT… so act like it goddamnit!
——————
Let me be clear, I do NOT support Hillary Clinton for president. I’m a middle-class white female who is educated. Although my entire grad program was fawning over her highness during the Bush administration, I do not feel the same draw to her. In fact, when she speaks, I have visions of snakes with forked tongues. (No, I don’t do drugs.) I guess, I haven’t grown comfortable with all of the bullshit she’s slinging… from her time as the First Lady to her run for the Senate in NY. I’m not impressed nor have I ever been when it comes to Mrs. Clinton. I also am not stupid and hate to think that the millions of people out there who are on their knees praying to their God/god/goddesses for her to win the Democratic primaries are being shammed by her schpeel. Wake UP, people. Politicians… ALL politicans are crooks. They will tell you ANYTHING you want to hear in order to get elected. They are desperate elists. They LIKE that they have perks and benefits that the ordinary people do not. And, they take the notion of democracy to a completely different level– with their “you, the people, must entrust your well-being and protection to US because WE are so much smarter than you.”
That mentality might’ve been OK during the Colonial and Revolutionary years when the majority of people couldn’t read, write, or understand the political machine… but, we’re a different breed.
We ARE educated (some from college and others from real-life experience(s)). We ARE involved (in some capacity). We ARE aware (for the most part) of the actions you take on our behalf. We DO know that someone has to do the job, but most are unwilling to do it ourselves. We KNOW that it can be tough. But, we also KNOW that there are a lot of things you’re not telling us–for our own good or not.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again– let’s take BACK our government and get it back on track. I’m tired of it derailing for its own benefit.
—————-
Why do we feel the need to force people into apologizing for what they say? For instance, Sharon Stone said recently that the earthquake in China was karma for their treatment of Tibet. People get all pissy and she apologizes for her comment. Is she really sorry or is she apologizing because the public may not pay to see her in a movie or rental? It’s bullshit. Say what you mean and stick by it. That also applies to Billy Ray Cyrus over his daughter’s photo shoot with Annie Leibowitz. Hey… there was nothing inanely wrong with Miley’s picture. I didn’t feel violated or offended and apparently they LIKED it at first. Then, people bitched and moaned and Cyrus offered a public apology and explanation for why he let his daughter have her partially naked back photographed.
BULLSHIT. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Do not bend to public pressure and apologize when we know full well that you were coerced into doing so.
I agree… perhaps it IS karma. Maybe that’s why natural disasters happen… maybe not, but don’t discredit MY feelings because you don’t agree… because when it comes down to it… my feelings are MINE and if you don’t agree, then so be it. We are not all supposed to agree on every aspect of everything or life would be painfully boring. (But, we wouldn’t be permitted to say so or it would offend those who love boring.)

I agree that all politicians are crooks. Well, most, anyway. It’s the only profession you can be in and legally do what you want. As to credit cards, the gas stations pay a transaction fee PLUS a percentage of the sale, so I can see why they want to limit card use. I however, use my Discover card to pay for my cross-country trip because I get extra cash back for gasoline purchases, and I sure wouldn’t have wanted to carry that much cash on me! I have found that 4 stations so far limit the amount I can charge… it varies from $75 to $100.. if the truck is empty, it can be up to $130 to fill it… ouch!! But I still think it’s cheaper than having it shipped…. and it’s way more fun!!
Posted by herstory07 on May 29, 2008 at 9:43 am
OUCH is right… but I thought those trucks would’ve cost more to fill. My husband’s econoline van costs nearly the same to fill. HEY, how are your booboos?

There is no politician I believe completely, and I have said so more than once. But we are no smarter than we were thirty years ago or sixty years ago or eighty years ago. We hear what we want to hear and act accordingly. This or that promise sounds so good we just jump right onto the bandwagon, without ever wondering how s/he’s gonna do it.
Beware those international hits on your page! Several times I have had them attach themselves as commenters — more than 50 on one post — and all they want to do is sell me Coach and Louis Vuitton, which I would never buy.
And, oh yeah, Connecticut is now the leader in the price of gas. $4.09/gallon is the best price in the area, according to this morning’s paper.
Have a good day

Gas is highest in San Francisco at $4.59 per gallon for REGULAR. My son lives in SF and refuses to even own a car. I live in N. CA and I found you thru a comment you had left at L-Empress.

When I went to Southern Cali last week, gas was around $4.29, so I was happy to get home and find it at $3.65! It’s all relative. I spoke to a friend in England today, and he said it’s over $11.50 a gallon over there! So it could be worse guys. Then again, I still think we need to take some drastic action.

Q: How are politicians and prostitutes alike?
A: They both get paid to screw you.
Q: How are politicians and prostitutes different?
A: You can CHOOSE whether or not to let the prostitute screw you, and politicians cost a HELL of a lot more.
I have never cared for Billary Clinton. With her you get him, for one thing; for another, if I remember right she was in the Whitewater mess deeper than he was. No thanks.
And I agree with you about sticking to your guns, but also know it’s tougher to do when the media is crucifying you for it.

Hey
Thought I’d comply with your request.
I’m Lisa and I’m from the UK. I’ve been reading for quite a while now and alas, I can’t for the life of me remember how I stumbled across your diary.
Lisa, I appreciate you saying hi. I didn’t mean to out you… I was looking for a particular person who, on occasion, has been known to stalk me. Fortunately, this person is not from or in the UK, best of my knowledge. And, trust me, I don’t know how I stumbled upon writing this diary, either. Heh. Welcome! -Herstory07
