Pictures, Photos, and Cake

You want to see the cake I made?

Here:

It’s OK… not at all like the ones I found online (the ones that gave #3 son the WONDERFUL idea to have mommy make a monster truck cake)…

Like this one…

OR this one…

OR even this one…

Mostly, because I was going by memory… and I thought that there’d be nothing cooler than a big messy chocolate covered monstrosity with a matchbox truck jammed on the top.  (I never said I was a professional…)

ANYway.  At least when you saw it, it looked like a monster truck THING with a truck jammed on a hill THING, surrounded by this weird fence THING.

So, I got to thinking about Poolie and Beanie on their long trek to SD and about their trip to Roswell… while I was making the cake pieces for the monster truck cake… inclusive of tinfoil swan hats to attract only the most refined aliens… and I made this, IN their honor:

As you can see, the fine detail and quality of this extraordinary piece was the outcome of many MANY seconds of squeezing and manipulating tinfoil that, in other circumstances, would cooperate. (Yes, I KNOW it looks like a duck!)

I call him Stewie… Stewie the Foil Swan.  (And, yes, he IS a hat… but, unfortunately, I’m not much of a hat person, however, I could not let this opportunity pass seeing that the ladies had SO MUCH FUN at Yankeechick’s house recently making their OWN foil swan hats.  I was jealous, I admit.)

And, in honor of our friends crossing the U.S. (or part of it) in a big yellow truck… I say we ALL create our OWN foil swan hats… because if they haven’t seen an alien (yet), then maybe one of us will.

(No, I haven’t gone to see if they’ve updated yet… I kinda wanted to fight my blackberry first.)

–Note to Poolie and Beanie: I think that perhaps the aliens are afraid of the sun.  Maybe if you had tried in the dark? (Just a thought…)

  4. Ohhhh! Be still my heart! Your swan hat is glorious! It gave us inspiration to include a roll of aluminum foil in everyone’s Great Javelina Hunt packet this October! And a few pipe cleaners. Can you imagine?????

Awww, Poolie, bestill my beating heart. (It looked like a duck to me… but ok, swan’ll do.) And, Shippie… my friend… *I’m* not into monster trucks either… however, that little boy is all about “Army guys,” police, monster trucks and killing bad guys. Do you think he’s on the path to his fate? Hehe… And, thanks for being kind. I’m too anal to think my cake looked better than the others… and it was funny because the girls kind’ve stared at it and asked me why there was a truck on his cake. Girls are silly creatures, aren’t they? So, I’ll add “monster truck cake” to my list of cakes that I’ve made… including most recently #1 son’s tire cakes to commemorate his 17th birthday. My middle son’s bday is coming up. He wants me to make his favorite–cookies and cream. I’ll post that recipe online… because it’s a yummy cake and lots of fun (because you gt to squish oreos… eat some… and put some in the cake).
